Girato in uno degli ultimi lembi di foresta vergine in Lituania, The Ancient Woods è un luogo dove i confini del tempo si fondono e tutto diventa eterno. Un film naturalistico poetico e atipico che accompagna lo spettatore in un viaggio senza fine: dal bosco, alle grotte dei lupi, fino al nido della cicogna nera, per poi tornare agli esseri umani che abitano il limitare della foresta. Il film cancella dolcemente il confine che separa le vite umane e naturali, intrecciandole in un’unica storia poetica.
